Dear Parents and Carers

As you all know Hackney as a local area is currently in week 3 of the 3 week Ofsted and CQC SEND Inspection. Members of the forum steering group and parent representatives from our workstreams have been working together to prepare for and meet with inspectors to share evidence of how HSPCF has been an active partner in developing and improving services and processes for local families. This is part of our remit and is tied to the DfE funding for all forums. We have also discussed the lived experiences of families with inspectors.

We know that things are not always good for families and children and young people and we also take our role as a critical friend seriously, providing appropriate challenge and highlighting priorities raised with us by forum members and parents and carers in Hackney who have attended HSPCF sessions or discussed these with us. Parents and carers (and our children and young people) have also had the opportunity to share feedback and priorities directly with the inspection team via the surveys which were open for the first 8 days of the inspection.

While the inspection is ongoing and the meetings are confidential we want to assure parents that we currently feel inspectors understand priority issues you have shared with us through the year and that these are likely also reflected in the inspection survey responses. Neither we nor the local authority or health services have access to the full responses but themes from the surveys are areas of focus for the inspectors. The questions we have been asked by inspectors reflect this and we feel they are being thorough.

The final day of the inspection will be on Friday 21st November and there will be a summary feedback meeting. Then inspectors will write, share and publish a report with the outcome of the inspection. It will take a little time before it’s published and is not likely to be public until the New Year.

While we will not be able to share lots of detail because of confidentiality we will be sharing a summary after the meeting. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Kind regards

Tunde Oyefolu-Alukwu
